Nicholas Menke

I’m seeking a backend-focused or full-stack software engineering role where I can build and improve applications using PHP, Laravel, REST APIs, and databases. I enjoy solving practical problems, modernizing existing systems, and writing maintainable code. I’m looking for a collaborative team where I can contribute my experience, keep learning, and help deliver reliable software. I’m a software developer with a background in full-stack web development, specializing in PHP, Laravel, backend systems and RESTful APIs. Over my career at uBreakiFix and Asurion, I worked on internal business applications and customer-facing systems supporting store employees, technicians, franchise operations, and corporate teams. Much of my experience has involved taking ownership of existing systems, solving production issues, and making incremental improvements without disrupting daily operations. I maintained a legacy CodeIgniter point-of-sale system as its sole developer during a six-month transition, contributed to the early development of a Laravel-based platform, and designed and implemented RESTful APIs for a customer-facing mobile application. I also worked on third-party integrations and data integrity fixes to help prevent downstream errors. Earlier in my career, I built production features during my software engineering internship at uBreakiFix and developed an internal repair work order tracking application at Gamers Orlando. I’m a self-taught developer who enjoys practical problem-solving, learning new technologies, and building software that makes everyday work easier. Outside of professional development, I enjoy experimenting with software and infrastructure projects in my homelab.
